I have always believed in the importance of sharing honest opinions with others…especially with your loved ones.

Since my wife and I were first married, I have been expressing to her the need to tell me when there are areas in my behavior or interactions with her as a husband and friend that need to be adjusted.

I would say, “Babe, if you don’t tell me what I am doing wrong, how can I fix it?”

Change has never been a big deal when it comes to pleasing my wife because she is one of the biggest blessings in my life and a huge reason why it is such a happy one.

For a while she held back and tried to adjust to my idiosyncrasies, but over time she learned to share her feelings and help me see and understand how I could improve.

Sure, there are plenty of old habits that die hard (ask her about my driving) Continue Reading

I have had the privilege of working with teens in some capacity, on and off for the last 12 years.

Life is full of possibilities as they are discovering new things about themselves and the world around them everyday and it is pretty incredible to watch.

On the other hand, I also had to see some of the most painfully awkward social encounters as well and most of these came in the form of young males attempting to catch the attention of a particular girl.

Having recently started volunteering with the youth at our church and with these past visuals flooding back into my mind, I have decided to address the “Art of Flirting” with this edition of 5 Non-Points.

You know the feeling you get when you start seeing everyone’s vacation pictures on social media and you begin to get that slightly jealous and somewhat anxious desire to stretch your legs a bit and experience your own adventure?

Don’t lie. Yes, you do.

This, in turn, prompts my hands to rise into the air as I symbolically surrender my life to His ultimate desire and plan.

It’s an amazing feeling and beautiful reminder of the relationship I am blessed to have with my Savior.

But, every once and a while, I, and my 10 foot arms, are faced with a predicament in the midst of these moments. And it happened again this last Sunday.

So, awhile back (and I really have no idea how long ago it was) but my wife and I found this show on Netflix called Gran Hotel (Grand Hotel in English).

I had my doubts about watching basically Spain’s version of Downton Abbey, but my wife and I are always looking for new shows to watch together, so I figured I would give it one episode and then we could move on.

It’s hard to explain the way a program with such over-the-top acting, comically dark soap operaesque scenarios and somewhat puzzling twists can pull you in so completely so I won’t even attempt it.

What I will do is list the top 10 reasons why you HAVE to watch this show (no spoilers, I promise).

  1. Slapping, Slapping and More Slapping
